The Challenge: Season 26 Speculation Thread (Spoilers about cast) 8/6 Departures

Well, right as this season ended (although I think filming actually ended around Christmas time), there is already speculation about Season 26. Vevmo as always is a great source for information, but their threads veer off-topic so much that it's helpful to condense the info.
Here is the stuff that almost all of the insiders agree on.
1) Format will be Battle of the Exes 2
2) They will depart in early August
3) They are struggling to put together a good cast
4) All of the Explosion people they wanted have rejected the offers.
Here is some additional info.
Pretty much verified: Cara Maria is not on because she has no exes (she is dating Abram currently).
Verified: Cooke says she will never do another Challenge because of her soccer career. That's a shame.
Pretty much verified: Emily from DC is doing a fitness competition with Women's Health and will not be on this season.
Verified: Evelyn is at Harvard Law. She's not doing a fricking Challenge.
Rumor: Laurel turned down the offer as well.
Verified: Heather Marter from Vegas II turned them down again, emphatically.
What does this mean? The women's field has no one, unless we get an old school surprise. And it sounds like the producers are trying on that front.
Pretty much verified: Brian, Jenny, Cory's girlfriend from Explosion who got an abortion, and Crazy Ashley all rejected offers. Only Cory accepted, but all of his exes turned them down so he is seemingly screwed over.
Verified: Thomas and Jamie are still together from Explosion. Jamie basically said Thomas and Hailey will be on this season.
Rumor: They are trying really hard to find a partner for Bananas. Trisha from Sydney was called and turned it down. Using a fricking off-camera hook-up from 7 years ago is weak as hell, but apparently they even tried to offer Svetlana, who hates MTV and repeatedly called them out. Apparently they are now trying to pass Nany as his ex, which is bullshite because a) she's probably the strongest female in the weak cast and b) they are using an off-camera hook-up that no one knows anything about.
Rumor: Expect a 28 person cast, with somewhere between 8 and 14 coming from Explosion, Portland, and St. Thomas. If half the cast is from those three seasons, that will suck. St. Thomas is the worst, Portland's okay, and they are getting all of the wrong people from Explosion.
Rumor: They are looking to bring some old school vets, especially on the women's side. Johanna from Austin was contacted, as was Jenn from Denver. Both apparently turned it down.
Rumor: Rachel and Darrell were called and both are interested. Apparently they have a hook-up from their Campus Crawl season. That is a super contrived "exes" team, but I don't give a frick. They haven't been on in forever and both are awesome. Also, the women's side needs someone with all the big names gone.
So anyways, here is a partial projected cast. This is 24 people, so there are going to be a few more, and they always miss a guy or two, but I've found the Vevmo projections to be generally quite accurate. Obviously in the next month there will be some revisions, and those are even more accurate, but this gives a decent idea of what we're working with. Needless to say, I am not impressed.

Here is some additional stuff.
Rumor: Nia is not a part of the cast
Rumor: They wanted to cast Anastasia and CT as a team, which would have been hilarious. I would love to see the weakest girl with one of the strongest guys, especially since CT is surprisingly good when dealt bad teammates. I can't imagine he'd be patient with Bird for too long though. Even Teej mocked her for not eating and just chain-smoking on Rivals II
Rumor: And I really hope it's true. Johnny Reilly and Avery are a possible team.
Rumor: Trishelle was asked, but they couldn't find an ex for her since they are all from the past.
And a few interesting things that came up and are from reliable people, and also, they make sense.
1) There were supposed to be 14 teams on last Battle of the Exes. Davis and Ryan from Fresh Meat II were supposed to be the 14th team. Yep, two guys, even though neither is good. That failed. Then they tried for Adam & Nany, but Adam failed the mental health exam, so they were stuck with 13 teams.
2) Ty barely passed the Rivals II psych exam and producers are leaking that he is mentally unstable and won't be asked back again.
3) CJ turned down MTV again. Sounds like MTV may have wanted him with Ashley from San Diego which would have been a very good team. I never figured out why CJ didn't do more Challenges as he would easily get some money on them since he is a great athlete and mentally stable.
Turns out every time you do a show, you sign a one year media exclusivity contract with MTV. Since he has a modeling contract with a large agency, he keeps turning them down, outside of Seasons. This was apparently an issue with some of the Explosion people, as well as Johanna. It explains why Jamie from San Diego never did anything after Inferno II even though her career in movies didn't blow up until afterwards. And why we'll never see the Miz.

I fully agree. They would still have a dearth of good females, but they could at least get Rachel, Cara, and a few others. Plus the pairs are so damn predictable. You know the finalists after the first episode usually.
Individual, large team, and free agents are all better formats. Apparently Exes had great ratings so they are going back to that format.

Jordan apparently has a new modeling career, but that's not stopping him from continuing on.
Jordan and Sarah would do well, especially if they focused more on endurance and intelligence as opposed to outright physicality like the majority of free agents.

I'll take exes with a poor cast over nothing. The old rumor was that Rivals II was possibly the last season due to declining ratings.

Could be done to limit negotiating power. Or just because they don't like him.
If Jordan is modeling, clearly his contract isn't good enough to keep him from walking away from it and signing his rights over to MTV. I think that's a reason why Marlon isn't on right now although his rap is terrible.

I don't see it getting cancelled because all of their new shows were disastrous for a while. The bar show, the traveling nurses, and while Buckwild did well, that is obviously not coming back.

I forgot about Marlon.
I just looked up the next season of real world and they're doing Chicago. I'll probably tune into it at first. I haven't watched a single second of explosion. I hated the concept and stayed away, so I won't know any of those cast members on a future challenge.
I've only recently started watching RW/Challeneges, though, and I enjoy them enough even though I didn't watch the show the cast members were originally on.
I kind of love Sarah and I think she deserves a respectable partner for the first time in ever.
I just looked up the next season of real world and they're doing Chicago. I'll probably tune into it at first. I haven't watched a single second of explosion. I hated the concept and stayed away, so I won't know any of those cast members on a future challenge.
I've only recently started watching RW/Challeneges, though, and I enjoy them enough even though I didn't watch the show the cast members were originally on.

I saw the Free Agents
Ratings. They were worse than Rivals, Rivals II, Exes, etc but better than FM2 and Seasons, but not by much. It was disappointing for MTV, but their ratings are down all over the place.

That's the problem with deciding on a theme before getting a decent cast. A good cast is more important. But Exes was the last challenge that brought in decent ratings so they want to do it again.
