Purchasing a private sale vehicle through a dealer

I'm looking at possibly purchasing a vehicle through a private sale and was curious if the deal can be "brokered" through a dealership. I have a preapproved loan through a credit union, but I'd like to get the taxes and title rolled into the loan. If so, what would the dealership typically charge and does anyone have recommendations for a dealer in Baton Rouge. Thanks.

I can be done. It usually happens as part of an in and out. We charge $200 and I believe that is the norm. I'd just call around the local dealers with a good reputation to line it out.

Its called an in and out and if you are looking to buy a car through the dealership that is doing it for you, there shouldn't be a fee... As far as I know.
You will get the tax incentive of a trade-in also.

Cool guys. Seems I asked a semi stupid question for a common service. I appreciate it.

And in and out is when you buy a car off the dealers lot and you have a trade with a buyer for that trade already lined up. Your traded vehicle is the in and out unit.
That is a different situation than we have here if I understand the OP correctly.
In this situation, why would the dealer do all of this work and not make one cent on the deal?

There are title businesses in almost every town. Find one. What town are you near?
I bought a vehicle from a family member and we did it at one of these for about $100-150

Google results for BR
many of these places do title transfer deals (sales) and handle it all.

Yeah, going back reading, its the opposite way....
I thought he was selling a car to a private party and purchasing a car off of the dealers lot.

Is your credit union giving you a "blank check" to handle the purchase?
I would think you and the seller could go to a title company, the title company can process everything with all costs, then you write one check from the Credit Union to the title company, who then handles all the sales tax and fee stuff, and also writes a check to the seller. Sort of like a house closing.

There is no blank check. I have fax a copy of the bill of sale and then the funds are transferred ( it's pen fed FYI). I was unaware that the title company could handle all of it. I figured the registration and taxes would have to be paid separately.

It can be a pain as to the processing of the title. I once had a dealership dick me around time-wise by having a title issued first into their name and then transferring it to me. Not that big of a deal.
