Use them if you have no other option. Basically, if a situation arose where it was a choice between losing the US or having to obliterate another nation or region, you do it.

BTW, I saw some Iranian Group in Europe the other day...this Muslim woman leader saying some really smart stuff. She thinks that the Mullahs days are numbered, and that the youth over there will run the show in just a matter of years. And that they want none of that 'Caliphate' bs. Pray for that lady. Brave spirit. Who knows...might dodge this one.

On 9/12/01, I would have incinerated Afghanistan.
I would also have announced to the Muslim world that if one of their brethren so much as set off a firecracker in the USA, or near any US territory, base, embassy, etc, their home country would meet the same fate and that Mecca would also be leveled.

You make an excellent point. Had we done that would the rest of the wars that we have been stuck in since that day been avoidable? Also, would the Jihad ended? I would say, probably so. It may well have been an instant end of the Islamist revolution and the 100 year holy war that they have waged on the Infidels.

I'm of the opinion that we possess some sort of weapon that makes a nuclear bomb look like child's play. I don't believe we have let the technology world catch up with us since the end of WW2 69 years ago on this front.
Who would have thought we would have drone capabilities 20 years ago? That being said, yes I would use my largest weapon in my arsenal if the shite hit the fan during my time in office.

Never. Harry Truman should be tried for two counts of crime against humanity, even posthumously.
Eventually, someone will use a nuke against us because we set the precedent.

Ok you do know that precedent has not been repeated and the Soviets would of used them against us if they thought they could get away with it.
If the bombs had not been dropped and an invasion took place instead 1,200,000 casualties were expected on the allied side alone. Japan was expected to lose half of its 500,000 man Army and another 600,000 to 1 million civilians. Truman sounds more like a Nobel Peace Prize Candidate than a war criminal with these numbers revealed.
