I've gotten the yak bug. I've heard great things about the Jackson Cudas. What's going to be the difference between the 12 and the 14? Besides being able to hold more stuff.

I have a 12. Never paddled a 14. From what I hear, 14 is slightly faster end holds more weight. That's pretty much it. It obviously weighs more than the 12.

The 14 footer will be a little faster and track a little better (probably not even noticeable).

On the flip side, the 14 foot kayaks are not as maneuverable in tight spaces, small ponds, creeks, etc.

It really depends on what type of water you plan on fishing the most.

Hijacking the hell out of this thread.

I might be one of the only ones on this board with a 10' kayak. I did 0 research and bought my Ascend on a snap decision

I think folks here start too many threads about kayaks who are over thinking whether they want to be gay and/or kayak fish

Agreed

OP, Just come out of the closet and buy a yak already.

Obligatory: "2 feet"

A lot of places do demos. Best advice anyone can give you is to go physically put your butt in the boat and paddle it around. Go with the one you feel most comfortable with.
