i've always wondered that as well. i've driven through there 1,000 times and never thought to ask here. i'd bet it has something to do with logging way-back-when when it was ok to clear-cut all the cypress.

They did it in Leeville in 1988 all along the shore to the left when leaving Boudreauxs heading toward the SW canal.

It was there when they open the I10.

Was built for the spillway to drain out into the lake when they open the locks. There was one on the other side at one time, but then they built a road/level out to the lake.

What about the pilings in the lake between Tangipahoa River and the Tchefuncte? We always called it the "Marcays". Heard it was a trading post, but never knew for sure.

Bout 12 power poles east of the mouth of Tangi. Extends about 300 yds into lake. Good diving in the late summer
