How often do you replace your bow string?

My string is about 5 years old and figure I'll get a new one before this season. Don't shoot a lot, just practice some before and during the season, and wax it a few times per year. How often do y'all replace the string?

Mine is going on 3, I keep it waxed and all but Im replacing it this year. If your going to do it, do it now before the shops get flooded before the season opens.

Every other year but I know guys that do it every year. There have been people killed from broken bow strings

Mine is 15 and I haven't ever changed it. They don't make em like they used to
Eta: I thought about it, but spending $125 on a bow that was $150 15 years ago seemed like a dumb move

Whenever it goes out of tune.

Whenever it needs it. They can last a few years at most and still be decent quality but after that you're pushing it. They start to stretch more and throw off other things. If you shoot enough you can go through multiple strings per year.

I started shooting a relatives bow one summer and really got into it. Was planning to make some hunts the following deer season. Late in the summer, the string popped on me. Close as I can come to shitting my pants without shitting my pants. Left a huge welt on my arm. I've been bow shy since then. Don't know how those limbs didn't shatter.
