Toup's for dinner last night

Meatery Board was spot on awesome. The mustard and pickled fruits all paired nicely with the assorted meats. My fav was the chicken liver mousse. I spread that shite on everything. Being a gentleman, I let my date have the one boudin ball. We also had the fried shrimp app with candied jalapeño peppers and satsuma. Sweet, spicy, and fruity all in one bite. From the menu, I thought it was going to be a play on a bang bang shrimp type of dish but was not. Very fresh and clean flavors. In addition, we had the dirty rice and devolved eggs. Dirty rice was really good and different than expected. There was a bit of cumin which was unexpected but good. Deviled eggs were heavy on the vinegar. Good but not my favorite. I give Three Muses duck deviled eggs as the best I've had. Finished it off with salted caramel, peanut butter, bacon cake. Probably the best cake I've ever had. Looked about 10 layers of creamy goodness. This was the only thing I regretted sharing.

Damn, can't believe you didn't like their deviled eggs. I will have to try the ones at 3 Muses.

I don't usually do desserts but I guess I will next time I go to Toup's. Love their dirty rice and pork chop.
