Byrd should be on the list, and if Trufant is on there, Lewis should be over him.

Not putting Lewis on there is astounding. Wasn't he the top in the league for just about every stat except INTs? Passes defensed, targeted Passer Rating, etc?

In addition to Byrd and Lewis, I would have Hicks in the top 10. If he stays healthy, he will have a huge year.

Galette would be another possibility.

I'm a Hicks fan as well, but that's about as homer as them including Star in this list.

I think Byrd and Lewis should be ahead of Lotulelei and Trufant but subjective lists are subjective

Star is legit. I like Trufant, but I think that's a bit premature.

Should be

1. Jairus Byrd (best S in the south)
2. Lavonte David (best LB in the south)
3. Cam Jordan (best DE in the south)
4. Keenan Lewis (best CB in the south)
5. Gerald McCoy (best DT in the south)
6. Greg Hardy (2nd best DE in the south)
7. Luke Kuechly (2nd best LB in the south)
8. Alterraun Verner (2nd best CB in the south)
9. (EDIT) Kenny Vaccaro (2nd best S in the south)(for some reason he slipped my mind and i put goldson, lol)
10. Junior Galette (best DE/LE combo guy in south)

These are the 10 best players regardless of rank. Star is pretty good but DT isn't a make or break position. Charles Johnson is overrated (31 tackles/11 sacks isnt too impressive for a said "elite" DE, when Galette, who dosen't always rush, got 12). Hardy is not better than Jordan (its close, but Hardy's stats were heavily inflated by the Atlanta and Saints games week 16/17, which 7 of his 15 sacks were recorded). Thomas Davis is right outside the top 10. Trufant? lol ok, dudes good but hes not even near Keenan's level.

They posted a second edition of the article, it ranked the defensive units in the NFC South.
They have:

1. Carolina Panthers
2. Carolina Panthers
3. Carolina Panthers
4. Tampa Bay Panthers

McCoy is good, but I'm not sure he is the best defensive player in the NFC South.

8. Desmond Trufant

A little too early. I didn't watch a ton of him last year, but I wasn't that impressed with him.

I didn’t realize Byrd signed with the Saints until now. Guess I need to research better next time

Byrd, Lewis, and Jordan are easily on there. Insane the talent on our defense now compared to 2011-2012.

Hicks, KV, Victor Butler, and Junior could also be top 10 players

KV, yes. Not sure about Hicks and Junior, though they are close.

We'll see how Vic But pans out.
