I'm a Louisville fan, I've seen almost every game he's played in. Kid can score and yes Pitino taught him very well on the defensive side.

Oh and there's this too he brings to the table. LINK

Stop

I remember reading draftexpress at this time last year and they were saying Russ Smith was the best man defender in college basketball

He's a 6 foot volume shooting scoring PG, from what I understood

Because he's maybe a little bit better of a defender than Jackson doesn't make them very different to me

While his considerable improvement on the offensive end adds to his intrigue, his bread-and-butter as a prospect remains his defense. By the numbers, Smith graduated as Louisville's all-time leader in steals, averaging 1.9 steals per game for his career and ranked fifth among prospects in our top-100 as a senior.

On film, his excellent lateral quickness, length, and aggressiveness allow him to be an elite on-ball defender, skills that should translate seamlessly to the next level. Likewise, he fights through screens, gets in passing lanes, and makes hustle plays, all of which make him an intriguing NBA prospect, despite his lack of size and slight frame.

on a team with a defensive minded coach, you don't think having a guy who can't play defense vs. a guy who is considered a great on ball defender is a big deal?

A little better? Smith is one of the best defenders at his position in college. Jackson couldn't cover a broom if his life depended on it.

Probably. He bitched enough about not coming up for us and Philly might start him opening day with their tanking.

Thought pierre was worth more than such a late pick. Is this just a testament to how bad the 2013 draft was where a player drafted where he was who goes to the D-league and supposedly improved his stock down there turns into this?

People freaking out about a 2nd rounder in the nba. Relax.

Chances are he amounts to nothing. But he's def got more potential than PJ.

From what I've seen:

He's FAR better at defense than PJ

Complete offensive game

Dynamic in half court/fastbreak.

Actually 6 foot

Hard Working/Great Attitude

Basically the anti-EG in all facets

Well my guess is Dell has been working Gordon, Rivers, and PJ in trades all night

Everyone probably laughed him off the phone about anything involving Gordon.

Rivers wasn't much of a commodity and he was asking for too much for him, so then it was plan C...or like D or F with this move

So we maybe eventually end up moving some other guys and he comes off the bench. Cool I guess, but disappointing after what some were mentioning as possibilities tonight.
