FIFA rankings are based off of math, not opinion, so please stop bitching about how innacurate they are.

Why? I mean they were right about 10 of the 15 teams advancing? 3 of the teams in the top 16 were in Group G, and 3 were in another group, where only 1 made it out.

I'd say aside from Spain and CR, they were somewhat spot on

Ok... The way they decide to release rankings is shite. I don't care what they base it off of they are pretty awful.

awful rankings is awful rankings no matter how they are made

If I see an RPI ranking that is obviously flawed, I will mock it too. no worries.

I though a strong case could have been made for the Uruguay, Italy, England, & Costa Rica bracket being the Group of Death.

U, I, E, CR: 7+9+10+28 = 54
G, P, US, G: 3+4+13+37 = 57

One of the teams in the top 10 were guaranteed to go home from Group D.
Similarly with Group G, a top 15 team was going home.

Spain's the only one that really shite the bed.

What's your complaint? There were 3 groups who had 3 of the top 16 in the FIFA rankings, so at most only 6 of those 9 teams could advance, meaning at least 2 of the top 16 would be out (and Ukraine didn't even make it so 3 of the top 16 would be wrong). So that accounts for Spain, one of Italy/England and Portugal. Those are really the only ones they missed on, and it's not that bad because aside from CR, 2 other teams from the top 16 made the knockout

They did, but they had 2 other top 16 teams in their group too, so one of the 3 of Chile, the Dutch and Spain was going to get left out. It just happened to be Spain

If you want rankings, look at Vegas.

Those are always the best regardless of sport.

But if you look at the groups, in a perfect ranking world, there would be 2 top 16 teams in each group, and if they advanced, then no one would be "overrated." But in this WC there were 3 groups that had 3 of the top 16, so that wasn't possible

It is based off of past performance. This is not the BCS or power rankings. Some of the teams like the French or Durch have sucked prior to this tourney.

Im not so much as of worried as who is in the top 16 as opposed to how the top 16 is ranked.

Its like those polls you would see that somehow had boise state as the #1 team in the country or something.

There are teams that you know don't belong where they are and If its a math problem, fix your math.

It actually isn't as bad as you are making it out to be. Of the 8 teams you listed, 6 are going to the top 16 of this tournament. In most sports, it isn't a huge upset if 13 (USA) goes ahead of 4 (Portugal). It happens in olympic sports all the time.

England and Spain are really the 2 I think you can be mad about, but then you have to be mad that CR is in the 40s

I understand..

BCS

is past performance if I am not mistaken.

My only gripe is that everyone knows that this is not how these teams should be ranked.
