From Jen Hale:

quote:

In addition to the 7-foot, 255-pound Asik, the Rockets would also send $1.5 million to the Pelicans in exchange for a 2015 first-round draft pick.

That means the Pelicans would not have a first round draft pick for 2 consecutive years, barring a trade. Last year, New Orleans traded their 2014 first-rounder to the Philadelphia 76ers in exchange for point guard Jrue Holiday.

However, New Orleans is still hoping to trade up into the first round tonight. The Pelicans are aggressively pursuing a deal to give them an early choice, as they look to bolster their playoff chances next season. The Pelicans biggest areas of need are the small forward and center. If the Asik deal is indeed agreed upon, New Orleans would be shopping tonight for the 3-position.

1) package Gordon with Ryno for a 1st and backup SG.

2) draft a SF or pick one up MLE

3) Sign LeBron

4) ….

5) Profit

I'm curious as to how it works out but I'd hope any deals we make are in furtherance of getting an experienced 3 who can shoot from range, preferably in exchange for Gordon.

You have to have something before you can lose it. We never had a shot in the first place.

As for the OP, I think we'd have to pull the trigger on a EG + Ryno for a pick deal...that would free up $24M and add a lot of flexibility going forward.

Ive been digging into some late 1st prospects

He does nothing that this team needs, but I think Im falling for Kyle Anderson... 6'9" SF who played PG at UCLA

Yeah, I really like Anderson, but not for us. Same with his teammate Adams.

One player id love for us to get in this range would be GRIII.

This is just one guy's opinion, but here's a quote from an anonymus NBA scout on the UCLA teammates:
quote:

Jordan Adams, 6-5 guard, UCLA. "I'm all over the place with him. I saw him work out. He must have lost at least 15 pounds. He does not have NBA athleticism at all. I don't even know if the kid can dunk. At that spot, being athletic is crucial. I think he's going to be challenged defensively, but he can be one of your second unit guys. "

Kyle Anderson, 6-9 forward, UCLA. "He might have the best basketball IQ in the draft. He's an elite passer -- not good, elite. He's like a Boris Diaw because he's a legit 6-9 and he does know how to play. The question is, will he be able to defend at our level? There's nobody on the floor he can guard. [Bruins coach Steve] Alford never played a minute of zone in his life, yet he played all that zone last year, because Anderson can't guard anybody."
