That was BCS Title Alabama-LSU style of domination in the 2nd half, we didn't even get a shot off until stoppage time

If we advance do we matchup better with Belgium?

Yes, because Germany is way better.

Also clear your thread title. This is a spoiler.

Belgium isn't nearly as good as Germany, so I'd say so. Just gotta contain Hazard and Mertens. Lukaku has been playing horribly, which helps.

Hard to get a good read on Belgium. They've looked good, but in a relatively weak group.

Belgium is poor mans Germany.

Good attacking and midfield, meh defending.

nothing to do with Germany being arguably the best team in the world with having an extra day rest while playing on a soft field

Loaded with talent but lacking chemistry. Also would have to root against my favorite player.

I don't think they've looked good.

I think we'll beat Belgium. Gotta contain Eden Hazard and Dries Mertens. Lukaku has been absolute shite this tournament

Belgium, to me, is similar to Portugal. Loaded with talent, but very beatable.

yeah it's a pretty solid draw. gives us a great shot at getting to the quarters. it's tough to draw a tier 2 team after finishing 2nd in group and we did.

Belgium is a pretty lucky draw as far as group winners go. They are the second weakest of the group winners. Only Costa Rica is worse among their group.

Germany also played on that soft field, and one day's extra rest was not the reason Germany manhandled the US. This game was not as close as the score.

I'd like to know the time of possession for Germany. I'd bet it was near 60 minutes.

Germany is a much better soccer country than the United States. They have a history that the U.S. can't touch and they currently have much better talent than we do.

This is news to no one. Not sure why we're discussing it.

That was the entire point. A heavier field is going to help the team that had the extra rest. Tires you out a lot more.

did you even read my post? You quoted it, but let me help you out:

I think that it absolutely affected us. We looked slow in the 2nd half of the game and Germany dominated it. That doesn't mean we would have beaten or outplayed them, but I don't think it would have been as dominating.

Bradley needs to do something. I don't know what but he has been pretty bad with his first touch in this tournament.

The US was so reliant on Jozy going into the WC, and to advance basically without him playing at all is amazing
