It's time for the States to convene and amend the Constitution

Again, amend the Constitution - not rewrite the Constitution. It's the only way to override the Federal politicians already in charge. There are enough "red" states to get it done if they unite.
Amendments needed:
1. Congressional term limits (its apparent we can't just vote them out anymore since they cheat like hell).
2. Balanced Budget
3. Supreme Court Justices limited to 8 year terms

No way. Just think how many Justices Obama would have appointed and what they could have done to our country. An Obama Justice looks at the Constitution strictly as something she/he can wipe her/his a$$ with.

I've been saying the states need to call a Constitutional Convention for years now. It looks like it's gaining steam.

Not going to happen.
You will have people trying to overhaul the 2nd, abolish the 17th, rewrite article 2, overturn Citizens United, and more. Just too many divisive issues.

disagree greatly.. maybe if you pushed the years up a bit but this would greatly politicize the court. cause all kinds of short term problems of who gets to appoint everybody in 8 years. and make it a problem if a certain party gets 12 years in a row.
then every 12 years or so the court would go through and try to overturn everything it did 8 years ago

But it requires 2/3 of the states. Plus, the convention should be convened to address pre-determined topics agreed on by 2/3 of the states.

stagger the justices.
not have everyone up at the same time, but stagger them by 2 years or something.

Why? Maybe i don't understand what you would want to accomplish by doing this? or the problem you have now with the court.
I think it would politicize the court way more than now. Make the judicial system tremendously less stable (as you would have to apply the same thing to all federal judges), a less stable judicial system would make the economic landscape less stable, etc.

yea but still don't like it. For Obama:
(assuming other 2 retired anyways)
year 1: sotomeyer
year 3: Kagan
year 5: appoints someone for Scalia
Year 7: appoints someone for Kennedy
lets for this hypo say dems/Hill dog win:
Hill dog appoints:
Year 1: someone for Thomas
Year 3: someone for Ginsberg
Year 5: someone for Breyer
Year 7: someone for Scalia
two full term presidents could completely change the court for 1 political party. Granted then it immediately starts shifting back (if other party won after 2 presidents) but you would have complete control of the highest court of the land for atleast 8 years. This could be devistating.
Plus, do we have enough people who we can shuffle in and out the entire Federal court system.
and it would take along time and alot of congressional approval time to appoint all 874 judges staggered over 16 years.
