Robbery scout crew or drug lingo?

So I'm outside today and three 12-year old (I'm assuming) black boys come up to me and ask me "can I have a job?" It caught me off guard at first but after telling them to get lost, I started to wonder, is this a scout crew for a smash-and-grab to come or were they speaking some drug lingo that this blue-collar, mid-30s, suburban, white cracker isn't hip to?
I also saw the same group going door to door asking the same thing.

I know it's probably hard to grasp.... Maybe they were looking to provide some low cost yard work to earn some summer cash the right way?

Yup, sounds like the 12-year olds got a nicely organized crime ring over there. Scout crews for smash-and-grab jobs.

To be fair to Next, it was commonplace in Sharlo years ago during the summer months for kids to come solicit jobs then return and burglarize the town homes later. Not saying Next isn't a racist old frick, but he may have a point.

I guess I should have expected comments like this. Call me what you want because you don't know me but I seriously doubt that anyone else here would get them their mower and tell them to have at it. Not to mention that something very similar happened in a nearby neighborhood not long ago.
