Golden State Warriors will almost certainly be renamed San Francisco Warriors (new logos also use black).

I know they are moving to a new arena over there but I don't like the name change idea. Golden State Warriors is unique.

Also, bringing black into the color scheme? Do not like.

That black will make the yellow and light blue pop IMO.

And they will sell a bunch of black jerseys, I just wouldn't want them to wear black all the time. But I'm not a fan, and maybe watch one half of Warrior basketball during the regular season every year if that.

Do you realize they were the San Francisco Warriors before they were the Golden State Warriors?

Yes I'm good with my NBA history. But just because that's what they used to be doesn't make it better.

Golden State is unique like I said before. Only team in the league that goes by their state's nickname.

I thought the only reason they changed it was because they moved across the river to Oakland or something. Since they've been back in SF, it makes sense to change the name back.

The bigger question is if they will keep their "Warrior" nickname? You know with San Francisco being the bastion of liberal and progressive ideology, and "warrior" being a HIGHLY disrespectful nickname. Just ask Marquette University which is located in a city whose name stems from a Native American word.

Not really pertaining to the color change, but more so the move to SF. I know that they're close (~20 miles), but moving from Oakland to San Francisco has to be good for attracting free agents, right?

I like the black if it's only used for alternates.

that is ashame. I think the current warriors logo with the bridge is one of the best in the NBA.

I don't think it makes a big deal whether or not the team's in Oakland or SF. Oakland's undergoing major gentrification, and the East Bay has some of the wealthiest communities in the US. In fact very few Bay Area athletes actually live in San Francisco as it is.

Oakland is like 6 miles from SF. Oakland has LOTS of wealthy people nearby. When the owners change this name, the loyal fans who showed up EVERY night to cheer very loudly for crap warriors teams for decades will definitely feel shafted. Golden State is unifying here in the bay area. This will turn off a ton of Oakland residents. And SF is turning into OBSCENE $$ douche playground and tickets will be even MORE expensive. this is a case of the gilded age tech dollars leaving the blue collars with crumbs again.
