I don't get to hang out with the old man as much as I'd like to with us both working too much.
One of the best days is just relaxing and shooting the bull with your old man, and pulling in a 4lb catfish on a fly rod.
I swear it felt like a damn tiger shark.
It was equally as cool to see the gators all over the place. Several smaller ones came right up to the boat.
Have there always been that many Gar there? The place seemed full of them. I could see 5-10 at all times where we were fishing under the trees.

You'll cherish that memory one day. Don't wait too long to do it again.

One of the reason I think the bass and bream fishing has not really recovered on lake verret the large predators are taking over.

Have had a camp on Verret since 79/80 and its the most gators and gar I have seen on the lake in the last 5-7 years. And then throw in a Hurricane and / or a fish kill every other year, the place just cant catch a break.

Saw the biggest one of my life in Verret this year. Was gonna throw a towel on its head and catch it, but decided not to

theres one in the long dead end canal in Crackerhead that I bet is pushing 12 or 13 feet. I've seen him a couple of times back there.
