Our win] clearly shows that in our region we are getting strong solid, we deserve same treatment given to South American Confederation and to Europe," Herrera said following Mexico's 3-1 winover Croatia. "CONCACAF is working well. We know there are a lot of islands and teams that don't grow much but our area our region is doing much to grow
.

"Four of us came to this tournament and three of us are moving on to the next round, moving on solidly and they all see us with more respect. Costa Rica has done a great job, U.S. is also a very solid team. It was unfortunately somehow more difficult for Honduras, but our region should be seen with good eyes."

The top teams in CONCACAF get a bad wrap IMO......but the bottom is so, so bad.

They need to give concocaf another half spot to make it 4. Take it from Asia. Then we could finish 4th in the hex. There would be no pressure.

Yeah, I hate to say it but I get a kick out of watching Herrera on the bench. But F Mexico.

We havent clinched yet so he better not jinx us.

He is right about CONCACAF. Mexico has done a good job getting out of group play the last several World Cups but have struggled against CONCACAF.

They didnt win their group in the Gold Cup last year and were bounced in the semifinal. USMNT had nothing to do with that failure.

Mexico has also barely qualified for the last 2 World Cups. 2014 is the one everyone knows about with Panama/wildcard situation but they barely made South Africa 4 years ago. They almost didnt even make the final hex when Honduras won their group and they finished tied with Jamaica for 2nd. They were saved by goal difference and went on to qualify safely behind USMNT in the end. Just 1 more point for Jamaica in 2010 and 1 USMNT laydown away from missing 2 straight World Cups and counting.

First thing I noticed was that comment. He probally had a smile on his face when he said it.

Maybe some good will come from CONCACAF domination. The African and Asian zones both need their qualifiers trimmed.

How do they decide who gets how many bids? It not population or Asia would have the most. Its not quality or Africa would not get more than South America (5 to 4.5).

I think it's a mix of quality and number of countries that somewhat care.

I feel like you're disrespecting Martinique, Bonaire, Curaçao, Sint Maarten and the mighty Cayman Islands.

I still don't get why Aruba hasn't developed a soccer program.

They have a population of Carribeans, Some former South Americans, and Dutch people. I know they have their own league, but you would figure with soccer being big, and having the dutch influence, they could field better teams.

I know they have become a lot better in baseball and have had several players signed, drafted, etc.
