I haven't seen a thread dedicated to rumors coming out before the draft. There are tons of rumors out there and it's fun to think about some of them happening..

The newest one I just saw was Utah offered Cleveland D. Favors, Alec Burks and the #5 pick for the #1 pick and J. Jack..

I know they want Parker really bad (he is a Mormon, if that matters)..

We've discussed some of them here: LINK

I have a final on Wednesday, so I haven't been able to keep it updated as much as I'd want to. It still has a good amount of info.

It is Utah

The other rumor I saw today is that he tanked his workout in Cleveland. He wants to go to Milwaukee because of how close it is to his hometown Chicago.

That Utah rumor is pretty fascinating, guess it depends on how good you think Favors will be, his career is underwhelming so far. He's obviously very similar to Thompson for the Cavs, and if Embiid isn't there at 5 (I bet he won't be) the Cavs wouldn't be a great spot to draft an impact guy they need.

So I guess the NBA draft isn't as ruthless when it comes to injured players as the NFL? Embiid will be out for what 3-4 months? Teams will still want him even if he doesn't play this year, in the first round?

Yeah, not many impact type players, so if a team believes he can still be one (which they will) he will likely go no lower than 4 to Orlando or at the very worst to the celtics or lakers

The shelf life for players in the NBA is much longer than NFL players and the teams at the top usually have no illusions about turning their team around in just one year. So you aren't going to see as many decisions based on what they can do for your team in their rookie year. And getting a top 10 player is really the only way for some of these teams to have a chance to compete, and most NBA people believe that a healthy Embiid has the best chance to be that 'move the needle' type player.

I saw Utah threw in the 23rd as well... Still not enough IMO. Also a team picking in the top 10 is interested in Waiters.

I don't know. If I were a NBA GM I would be terrified of the potential for a recurring injury in Embiid. You might get a couple of productive years out of him, but him being a big guy (7 Footer) you immediately think of guys like Oden, Yao Ming, Bynum. Any type of leg injury really kills these big men. Ming is probably an exception because he played for a while. However, the other two knuckleheads should weigh heavily on the GM minds.

I read that the Magic offered the Cavs the 4th and 12th picks along with Aaron Afflalo for the 1. With the Embiid injury the Cavs would be crazy not to take that trade IMO. They could still end up with Embiid at the 4th pick and draft another useful player at the 12. Not to mention, Afflalo would be their second best player.

They could take Afflalo and trade him to Chicago as well for some pieces if they don't want to keep him.

Cavs could end up with Embiid @ 4 as well.

Yeah, that would be a crazy good move for the Cavs.

Kind of an old rumor. But there is talk that the Lakers and Philly discussed a trade of MCW and Thad Young for the #7 pick and S. Nash..

Supposedly Philly really likes Exum and is going to miss out on Wiggins. That would give them 3 top 10 picks..

Lakers get a new young PG and more help for Kobe. Plus get to move Nash out of the way. Once the add a couple of vets (Pierce and Asik or Boozer). They'd have the makings of a decent team..

Those teams aren't expecting to do anything this year either which means they don't care if he misses some time.
