Do you guys think that going into debt with student loans is worth it even if you're going after a good degree? I do not want to be stuck doing nothing but paying expenses and debt after college. But then on the flip side a degree is an important thing to have.

Worth it or not? And does anyone have any experiences with student loans?

Well I'm going off what others have told me regarding a "good" degree. A degree in law, engineering, accounting, business degrees. What I want to know is, with the current job market, is it worth getting into debt for a degree like those listed above?

Like I said I don't want to spend years after college just paying expenses and debt.

Going into debt with student loans is worth it ONLY if you're going after a good degree.

Yes it definitely is worth it and if you want to reduce your expenses go to community college while working and then transfer to your state school and get a degree in one the aforementioned degrees.

By going the cc route first you can take your electives and base classes for 1/3 to 1/4 of the cost of a full university class cost.

I'm at a community college right now. I hope to only have to go
Through 4 semesters of a university. But you're definitely right, it is much cheaper

Debt is a tool that is perfectly fine to use for an appreciating asset. A good degree that leads into a good career would certianly be an appreciating asset.

I think you are being very smart by taking some classes at a 2 year college. Just make sure they transfer fully to whatever university you are planning on attending.

I think there are two paths to a successful career. One is to get a professional degree (law, business, engineering, science) and the other is to pick up a trade (plumbing, a/c repair, mechanic, etc).

But answering a question like this is tough. Borrowing money to go to UNO to get an accounting degree makes a lot of sense. Borrowing money to go to Loyola to get a degree in liberal arts makes no snese at all. Everything else is in the middle, right?

Great point. I know way too many people who know they are going to transfer somewhere else and never check this. OP: what state are you in?

The alternative is to work 3 jobs and roll all extra cash into a High Interest savings account.

5 years later you should have around 125k which should pay for 5 semesters at a CC, 4 semesters at a decent state university, a "newer" used car and a small monthly stipend to supplement income.

I know this will sound terribly rude - but if you a) have to ask on here, and b) think you provided any relevant information to get you an answer.... You might want to evaluate whether you would be able to truly maximize its value.

Don't worry about asking this on here. I ask dumb shite and say dumb shite all the time all over this website and it's a great place to get feedback. I see your profile says Texas so I'm going to go with that for my suggestion.

Go to blinn and get a job in College station and get good grades and the job should pay all expenses related to the juco or close to it. Transfer to a&m and see what you like within business and attack. Aggies love aggies.
