Preview looks pretty weird. I think I can appreciate it, but is this going to be a bust for the family?

It's a much different movie than the trailers display, it's probably the most somber and even violent of Anderson's career. Not a family movie but worth your time, nonetheless.

They almost make it look like it's kinda funny. I have been waiting to redbox it...is it not worth the wait?

Thought the TV commercials for it were odd. As if all you need to know is that Anderson directed. Gave me no sense of what kind of movie it is.

Awesome movie. I loved it and I usually don't like Wes Anderson movies.

I enjoyed it a lot. Probably not a family film though. It has some adult type references to sex. I thought it had some really hilarious moments. The sense of humor is pretty quirky though like pretty much all Wes Anderson that I've seen. The poster above is probably right though that the overall mood is pretty somber though when the whole idea of the movie starts to come together.

A zany caper, with a somber look at a fictional European country on the verge of WW2. Unlike most of Anderson's movies, this has a pretty straightforward plot (kind of) so it's a little more accessible.

My friend is the same way, and said the same thing.

I loved it, but there is a pretty big caveat as with any Wes anderson film. He has a certain stylized aesthetic. It is usually a like it/hate it type of thing. I haven't LOVED all of his movies, but I thought this one was very good on multiple levels, but yes, it does have more than a little bit of a wistful ending.

Though I doubt he will, Ralph Fiennes should really receive an Oscar nomination for his role.

It's some of Fiennes' best work. Incredibly funny and touching.

Absolutely. His character was great and he played it very well.

Great movie, but very dark.

I highly recommend.

It's good if you like those kinds of movies. Not thrilling or crazy funny, but a good interesting story with funny moments, quirky people and good imagery/cinematography.

I actually found it to be the most slapstick laugh out loud funny film of the Andersen collection. Definitely worth a watch.
