What would it take for you to be in favor of peaceful secession?

Hillary winning?
Obama continuing his creep to Stalinism?
More taxes, less results (or more results depending on how you see it)?
Fed gov knocking on your door demanding your guns?
Fed gov obstructing a convention of states?

Where is the tipping point?

Or are you already there?

To be clear I am NOT advocating violence.

First off, I'd have to believe it would be peacefull. I'm not convinced, at all.

Gun ban/confiscation.

Although, it would probably be violent.

Increased taxes and welfare, revoking second ammendment, allowing all Mexicans to come.

I'd never be in support of secession, regardless of the circumstance. A civil war that would take the country back from the corrupt who run it? Yeah, I could do that. I'm not going to secede from the greatest civilization that the world has ever known, but I will take it back from the assholes who destroyed it.

Most Northerners would be happy to see AL, GA, MS, LA, AR, SC, and TX leave. VA, NC, TN, FL would not secede and there would be very little discussion about leaving. . I have to say that TX and LA would be a tough call of leaving. TX has way too many Northerners who have moved there and too many minorities for it to work. Louisiana with New Orleans wouldn't have the guts to leave when push comes to shove.

Of course you do realize that a lot outside investment would stop coming to those seven Southern states. So you are stuck with SC, GA, MS, AL, and AR. Heck with Atlanta GA would be a tough call.

But most northerners would be happy to see MS, AR, AL, SC, and maybe LA to leave.

Southern states get too much federal money to leave.

I think a Western state would be more likely. Looking at you Montana.

The growing threat of a real shooting revolt would do it for me. Government is kinda like marriage; if it's not going to work, it's better to separate than to do the 'War of the Roses' dance.

The question was what would it take... not what I believe. It's not the first time I've heard that expression on this board. Obama is not Stalin. I think that's clear. What is less clear is the growing sense that the govt we have now is not sustainable. That's what I believe. So, boosiebadazz what would it take you to be in favor of leaving the US?

Leaving the US?

Hmmm, that's tough. I honestly don't know. I couldn't imagine. Maybe police detention for expressing a political opinion? I'm honestly having trouble coming up with a scenario

You can secede, very easily and in a non-violent way. Just get in your car a drive a couple hundred miles north. And you get universal healthcare as lagniappe!
