There is clearly a large divide among American's as to what each believes. So it depends which group you ask as to this definition.

America is divided, by degree, re just how much tax and spend (Government redistribution of the GNP) should be allowed.
The worse the economy gets...the greater the hue and cry for the Government to 'fix' the problem. *Some* believe that it is Obama/Progs strategy to collapse the economy, wherein the Government will be the only power to establish civility over anarchy. And "engineered collapse", would be the classic MO of the Academic, Marxist, Cloward-Piven strategy to bring down Capitalism from inside the country. Validating Nikita Kruschev's prophecy that "we'll take you without firing a shot".
Time will tell...just "what we stand for".
