Or even allow one of its teams to play against a non NFL team such as a Canadian team?

There's no point. The Canadian teams are made up of Americans who can't play in the NFL.

And there aren't any international teams that would be even remotely competitive.

Technically they have. But you mean a permanent team - yeah probably in about 20 years

Hell no. There are no "other leagues" for American football, just far worse leagues. Even in Canada, the CFL is a joke. They prefer the NFL

You mean have an NFL team based in another country? Almost assuredly yes. Eventually some team will move to London. Also there is a chance I feel that if the NFL ever expands again that in addition to London Canada and Mexico have to be on the list of places the NFL will plop down a team.

As for vs a CFL team? No. The CFL plays by a different set of rules and have slightly different field dimensions.

Pretty much, A top notch college team could hang with and maybe beat a CFL team. Of course they would have to be some rules modifications. NFL has played CFL teams before I think the last time was in the 50's or 60's.

The NFL does intense demographic study-- it is no accident that the Bills contracted to play in Toronto, as a good part of their fan base is in that region of Canada.

It is entirely possible that they end up there permanently, depending on who buys them.

I have heard they are planning to have a London team by 2020 but who knows if that will happen?

NFL Europe was somewhere between intriguing & painful to watch. The Euros don't have leagues from Pop Warner to NCAA for their kids to play & develop in the game-it almost felt like the painted-up fanatics shown in the stands were on the NFL payroll.

I'd be all for it, but a place like London would likely have to embrace a bunch of Americans as their team, and that didn't fly first time around.

That romance may be rekindled, Bills were put on the market a few days ago.
