Admins have the power to edit thread titles so why can't they just quickly fix the title and send a PM to the OP to straighten his titles up in the future? Anchoring active threads because of the thread title is a disservice to the posters participating in the thread.

A lot of threads are started with shitty titles so maybe yall should put a dialog box on the "start topic" screen to explicitly discourage people from starting threads with poor titles. The box should directly state what is and what isn't allowed for a thread title. This would help improve the titles, imo, because it's apparent not everyone reads this board to see the stickied thread. Is that a difficult thing to implement?

On a related note, when a thread title is corrected after being anchored, what option should we RA to have it unachored?

Lastly, whichever admin reads this, I would appreciate the unanchoring of this thread. Thanks

Why can't users title the thread correctly in the first place? Why can't people in the thread tell the OP to update their title when it stinks? Why? Why? WHY????

Maybe because some posters would get the false impression that someone was an admin when they are not?!?

Besides, you know this never works.

I don't know. That's why I proposed a dialog box on the start topic screen to tell them if they start the thread with their shitty title then it will be anchored. how would this, at all, be detrimental? like I said, not everyone reads your stickied thread at the top of this board so putting a message right in front of their face before they post might help. do you not agree?

I did tell the OP. he fixed the title of the thread which I linked to in my OP, but it's still anchored. so what should I RA to get that topic unanchored once the title has been fixed?

We do, but it doesn't always remove the anchor. And some threads especially in the Movie and TV board make sense with just the name of the show or episode.

This is a legitimate question. What motovation does an OP have to change their title if there is no recourse to get the thread unanchored? They would be better off just creating a new thread and clogging up the board with two nearly identical threads.

So did today's FBD thread originally have something wrong with the title??
