University Lab rising junior Skylar Mays announced on Twitter late Saturday he was going to reopen his recruitment process and rescind his commitment from LSU.

The 6-foot-3 All-State point guard originally committed to LSU in February. "I just want to make sure I'm making the right choice," Mays said. "When I make my decision, I want to make sure I have all the necessary information. I still love LSU a lot and will be going to their home football and basketball games. I'd rather second-guess now than later."

Rivals.com highlighted Mays as one of its standout 2016 performers at the Nike Elite 100 Camp in St. Louis last week.

Mays, rated as a four-star prospect, said Vanderbilt and Tulsa have been in contact with him but he also reiterated that LSU is certainly not out of the picture by any means.

Yea I hope he still ends up a tiger. Can't fault the kid for wanting to make sure he is making the right decision.

Not too worried about this. He just wants to go through the process.

Frustrating....don't commit if you aren't sure

Momentum and perception are huge in recruiting and it just sux that some dont understand that.

No knock on the kid

like you have any idea .... Everyone on this board says this dumb shite (no matter what sport) every time we have a de commit. "Kids enjoying the free trips." "Just enjoying the attention".

90% of the time they go elsewhere and they weren't just enjoying the process. They continued to participate in the process and there's a reason they backed off LSU.

Vandy and Tulsa have been in contact with him? Is he worth taking an early commit from if he is getting contact from schools of this level? Is this the kind of commit that is going to get us to the next level?

They signed Damian Jones and Dai-Jon Parker (two of their starters) out of Baton Rouge during the past few years.

I'm not melting about anyone, I have no idea if the kid will come to LSU. I just hate the "he's just enjoying the process". That phrase is rampant here and very much ignorant.
