Need help from the OT. We're thinking about going there the week after July 4th. Is it a trashy resort or nice enough? Thanks. I trust OT recommendations more than tripadvisor.

Nice enough. They host lost of business conferences and conventions. However, destin has outgrown itself IMHO. I would recommend Pensacola to avoid some of the crowds and traffic.

Stayed there once, thought it was pretty nice.

I always feel much more relaxed when I've stayed in more of an off the beaten path condo than a bigger resort on Florida trips. Not sure why. The kids like the resorts better just because there are more other kids around.

Should we stay on the baytowne village side and commute to the beach or beach side? Seems like all the bars are on the Village side.

If staying within ocean view is not imperative, then yeah definitely stay around baytowne wharf.

The Grand Sandestin has nice stays. Also there is a tram service for the resort so commuting is fairly easy.

I stayed at the Hilton Sandestin back in March. It was really nice, but I don't think it was worth the price.

Stayed several times, all on the back bay side, cheaper. Easy to get around with a lot of things to do. Last time we stayed they just opened the Baytowne wharf. Golf is great. Good deals if do the you stay and play golf packages. We rent homes now in crystal beach, from newman daily.

You are a f'n idiot. Much better places to stay. Do yourself a favor and drive a little further to Rosemary beach.

It's the best place to stay in my opinion. We prefer the bay side. We can walk to the village and drive/take shuttle to the beach. You don't have to leave the resort the whole time you're there.

We've had a house here forever. I'm here now. If you're going to rent a house with a golf cart it's great because you don't have to worry about drinking an driving. And you don't have to leave and deal with traffic once you get here. You can go to the grocery store on a golf cart, restaurants, bars, and the beach without getting in the car. Those are probably the only reasons we keep it instead of going down to 30-a.
