I'm driving right now from Shreveport so I can't really research, but I just heard on the radio that the new License will be $42

Does this seem excessive? What are other states charging?

Every 6 years rather than every 4, though.

Only $42 if you want to post on message boards while driving.

It lasts for 6 years instead of 4.

Same amount per year as it has been for years. Will now be for 6 years rather than 4 years.

It should be $500 every ten years and a new test both written and driven is mandatory.

$42 and three right turns, lol and people wonder why drivers are so bad.

dunno about making it $500 being very fair to the average Joe but I absolutely agree that you should have to take a test every so many years to prove you are still capable of driving safely.

Of course, I'm a little extreme and think all new cars should be required to have breathalyzer starters installed to curb drinking and driving.

$7 per year for 6 years, paid up front.

Compared to Texas, we get off pretty cheap.

Since I moved back here, I've paid $10/yr for brake tag, $28 for 4 year license, and I think my two year registration was like $38.

When I lived in Houston, it was $40/yr for brake tag (and they actually inspected the car and twice, I had to get something fixed before they would give me the tag), $25 for a 6 year license (so this was better), and $80 for a one year registration.

$50 a year to be able to drive seems more than fair.

I've retaken it after I let a license expire and not renew in time.
Got a 98 on driving and a 96 written with no studying and took the test with a standard with no power steering (vintage mustang)

and people like you used to argue against making things like seat belts and windshield wipers mandatory.

sorry for thinking a safety feature that would save lives should be added to cars.

In AZ they are good until you turn 65 years old so it's not that bad!
