Question for MBA/JD Students or Grads

In what order did you tackle the studying for the GMAT/LSAT? What products did you find worked the best for studying for each? Did you focus on one versus the other initially? TIA
Also I'm expecting the it's not worth it from the anti-JD crowd.

Very worth it if you don't want to practice law. That degree can open a lot of doors that are not legal. I didn't take that route personally but I would guess the lsat is the more important of the two and would focus on that primarily.

I can tell you that if you were great at English on the ACT/SAT, and do well on the LSAT, then there is no reason for you to really study for the English portion of the GMAT. Focus on the math.
I will say it was pretty frustrating to know that I would have smoked the GMAT math portion if I had taken it in high school as opposed to after 4 years of an LSU business curriculum.

1. Don't do it. It's one of the least beneficial investments of time and money a person can make in today's economy. If you get in a t14 school, consider it. If not, run for the hills and begin a career.
2. The LSAT is infinitely more important than the GMAT if you want to do a JD/MBA.

That didn't take long.

I didn't take the LSAT, but with an engineering background, I walked into the GMAT with no preparation and did well (not great).
It reminded me of a college-level ACT.

Even that is iffy unless you can get significant scholarship or like to gamble.

I'm normally not one of those people but if you're getting a JD/MBA it doesn't sound like you have a great plan to go into a specific field unless your family owns a business that needs a new CFO/General Counsel. I know one guy who has the joint degree; he practices law full time and doesn't need the MBA at all. I personally think business school is a bigger racket than even law school.

Took the GMAT. Whoever said that if the english/ reading comp potion of the ACT came easy to you then the case will be the same on the GMAT, is correct.
I struggled with the math. Tried to teach myself that stuff and my brain just doesn't work like that.
There's a bunch of stupid little tricks to the test too. I wish I would have had the money to take a class back when I took the test. If you're serious about it, the money for the class is worth the investment.
