Let's operate under the assumption that there was a hard drive crash that actually happened. There are a few questions.

1. Can a congressional committee not subpoena the crashed drive and have them examined by professionals to recover data?

2. Can the cloud based or server based backups not be subpoenaed?

3. Can the 2nd party recipients or senders of these e-mails not be subpoenaed for their copies?

4. If all of these avenues have magically disappear, would it be fair for a reasonable person to conclude that there is some sort of cover-up?

Yes, you are crazy because you obviously don't pay attention to the news

Mr Camp sent inquiries to the IRS asking about the targeting of conservatives, 10 days later we have 7 computer crashes.

These SOB'S destroyed evidence and should all go to jail.

I would be for lining them up and executing them all.

And I am against the death penalty.

I don't get it, either. It would be like if the police knocked on your door and asked to search your house and every room in your house had a locked door except for one that was opened.

Then the police say hey, let us look in these locked rooms and you say no there's nothing in there. Then the police oh well, we searched and didn't find anything. Okay, have a nice day.

1. Can a congressional committee not subpoena the crashed drive and have them examined by professionals to recover data?

No, its been destroyed.

2. Can the cloud based or server based backups not be subpoenaed?

Sure, but they say they were lost there as well.

3. Can the 2nd party recipients or senders of these e-mails not be subpoenaed for their copies?

Lost there as well.

4. If all of these avenues have magically disappear, would it be fair for a reasonable person to conclude that there is some sort of cover-up?

One would think, but the D's are falling back on the tried and true 'Bush did it' defense now as well as their declaration of yet another 'phony scandal'.

"Losing" theses emails is the most absurd thing I've ever heard.

Absolutely absurd.

What about the servers? Aren't all e-mails stored on their servers?

I mean, I can access e-mail from any computer from my Gmail account from 8 years ago when I first set it up.

They claim they wipe the servers every few years.... Which poses 2 questions.

1) Tuba's "Bush did it" article from this morning said they found Bush's emails on the server from 03-05'.... So why didn't they wipe those servers
2) Someone posted yesterday that the IRS had an outside company backup all email communications starting in 08 or 09...

I call bullshite on them wiping servers every few years.

Also, why could they not request their own IT guy check the servers to see what they can find on it?

Doesn't that start getting into Sarbanes-Oxley territory at some point?

Covers public companies, not government entities.

A private firm was handling the backup, there was a thread yesterday. Congress should go directly to the private company and have it pulled...

Let's assume this true (which it obviously isn't), heads should role at the IRS for having such an incredibly poor email management and storage system.

The funny (sad) thing is even if a direct link was found between the IRS and White House, the media would spin it as the white house was correct in targeting and the Law was wrong.

What is sad is if the media doesnt get behind a story it isn't a story and if they do it is...

Incorrect:
quote:

The IRS has been able to retrieve about 24,000 of Lerner’s emails sent to other IRS employees by recovering them from other agents who received, sent or were copied on the emails.

Why should this be necessary? The Internal Revenue Service provides rules for its employees in the Internal Revenue Manual. Per IRM 1.10.3.2.3.5:
quote:

Please note that maintaining a copy of an email or its attachments within the IRS email MS Outlook application does not meet the requirements of maintaining an official record. Therefore, print and file email and its attachments if they are either permanent records or if they relate to a specific case.
Where are Lois Lerner's printed copies of emails and attachments required by IRS policy? Where are the official file copies of her correspondence required by IRM 1.10.3.2.3? LINK

The only explanation the IRS can provide is that there was a massive failure by senior IRS personnel to follow IRS policies with respect to email records. Why was there no mention of the internal problems in the IRS investigator general report on this matter? Wouldn't Lerner's emails have been something the IG would have looked at?

This is the answer to the entire issue right here.

I don't have proof that those 7 hard drives were deliberately destroyed, but THAT DOESN'T (OR SHOULDN'T) MATTER.

There are copies somewhere, and the longer it takes to get to them, the more time these crooks in the IRS have to find them first and destroy those, too. If those emails were backed up by an outside agency, then that is our last hope of ever getting them it seems.

These folks in the IRS are making Nixon's henchmen look like complete amateurs.
