I grew up in lake Charles and dad use to take me to the dome 4-5 times a year
My favorite series was in 89 when we swept the Dodgers in a weekend series for my birthday
Beat Valenzula Friday night and Saturday night was the 22 inning game
Sunday they were down to their last strike and biggie hit a HR to tie it and we won in extras
Best weekend ever. Use to sneak in Antiones subs also. Lol

My first game ever. Kevin bass hit 2 hr against mickey mahler of the expos. It was awesome. 84 season I think. Last year I got to play golf with Kevin and I reminded him of that game.

Saw Cards@Astros during McGuire's record chase year. About 25,000 there......hours early to watch Big Mac's BP..fans had sheets with bullseyes on them in the upper deck..absolutely roared when he put a couple up there in BP.
Can't hardly remember much about the game

I only ever made it to one game at the Astrodome. My Dad and I drove through Tropical Storm Georges in 1998 to see them play McGwire and the Cardinals, during the thick of McGwire's 70 HR season.
9/12/98
Randy Johnson was on the hill. He had the flu, he was visibly fatigued. He doubled over with his hand on his knees a few times. Nonetheless he dominated, 7 IP 2 ER 11 Ks. Struck out McGwire twice. Former Z great Scott Elarton came in in the 8th and struck Big Mac out again.
Stros won 3-2...the game was clinched in the 7th, when none other than my namesake cleared the bases with a 2-run double
That 98 team was something special. They won 102 games and I thought with the Unit we were poised to finally break through in October. Unfortunately the bats went cold (again), and we ran into Kevin Brown who was a fricking machine that season.

I think I enjoyed that team more than the WS team.
My first game was in the 80s. Saw Mike Scott pitch. I grew up in Beaumont, used to go all the time. Saw Ryan throw a couple of games, saw Baggs as a rookie.

I could've gone to the 18 inning game but I had a little league practice or something, so my dad took my brother instead

The first game I saw in the Dome was in 1985. The Astros were playing the Padres. That place was notorious for 1-0 and 2-1 games. Joe Niekro and Lamar Hoyt were pitching and of course the game ended up 12-9, Astros win. It was a rare Friday night prime-time NBC game.

Watching the sweat drip off the bill of his cap. The big man would sometimes lose 15 pounds on a hot day on the mound.
