Have any of you guys ever fished up there? I'm taking the trip next week to have some fun but I've never been. All I know is that fishing the deep water like Pickwick is a whole different monster. Any location recommendations? TIA

I've never been but I know a lot of people who have and they say it's a hard lake to fish. Good luck.

All the talk is about the shell beds on the ledges, but i'm sure those aren't exactly easy to find

I've fished pickwick a few times, my parents live in tishimingo. I fish the rock ledges with a tube texas rigged. I've also fished the damn with a Crankbait and swimbait like they were doing in the elite tournament they had there a couple years ago

Ill preface this with I haven't fished Pickwick in 15 years...

But, we used to fish with smokin' silver or pearl super flukes on Pickwick. Smallmouth seem to love them. We'd fish rock ledges and any kind of structure we could find. I miss fishing with my dad out there so much. Waterloo, AL at Second Creek is where we spent most of our time.

Where are you fishing? Closer to Florence or closer to Pickwick dam? If in Florence, drift down from the dam and use crawfish colored tubes/crawfish soft plastics or crawfish crankbaits. Becarefull with all the rocks.

If closer to the damn you will probably have better luck fishing for largemouth on the lake side. For smallmouth fish the rock faces south of yellow creek all the way down to JP Coleman state park. All you need to do it pitch crawfish jigs in any and all pockets in the rocks. The bite is extremely light.

Give me an idea where you will be.

We plan to go out of McFarland park or possibly another launch somewhat nearby. Yellow Creek would be too long of a ride for us from McFarland I think.

Definitely too far. Your best bet is to fish drifting down from the dam.
