Mariza Bywater Recommendations for Food, Drink, (and Parking)

Since I kind of hijacked the Booty thread I wanted to make a separate thread about Mariza...and the other Mariza threads that I googled for the Food Board are all locked.
I heard the Duck Ragout Pappardelle and the Black Linguine with Shrimp and Crab are solid...how are the cheese platter and the desserts they offer? Any other must-have dishes that I can't leave there without trying? I'm really excited to try this place within the next couple weeks and their prices seem like a steal for a restaurant in Nola serving that caliber/quality of food.

If you park on the other side of the street, you will be fine.
Really liked the crudos and pastas. For dessert they had a very Catalan dessert of chocolate, olive oil, and seat salt, with some orange zest. Get that.

Thanks . The chocolate dessert looks mouthwatering.

I don't have a real sweet tooth, so I ordered this. Excellent choice.
OP- I know there were a few, thorough reviews of Mariza. Keep looking.
The pastas were all well received as I recall.

There are, but most of the threads are locked and therefore can't bump them to the first page.

I've been waiting for you. I figured you haven't made it to Mariza.

I've been to Mizado twice; it's good but can be REALLY pricey if you add in drinks there and food other than tacos. I'm sure you like the valet parking there too .
Asking about the parking situation at any restaurant in Nola is a valid question. Especially if the restaurants are near towing areas like Mariza is.

I don't understand why people gripe about parking @ Mariza. Just find a spot on the street a couple blocks away. I mean I understand fatties want to be able to pull up right in front and get into the A/C in under 20 seconds but sometimes restaurants just aren't set up that way logistically.

Yes, big fan of Valet parking.
I've had $30 couple's dinners there and $200 couple's dinners there, yes it can get up there quick.
Mariza is up there for me.
This summer I want to knock out
Mariza, Tableu and R'eveltouton.
I got to Peche already this summer.
But we have been on a Vietnamese kick, and most of my new places have been Viet food.
Still thinking Orchid is the best in the Kennaire area.

Some people just aren't use to parking on streets

<------ on the boot list
I don't mind walking. I'll park in the Marigny and walk to Harrah's, done that before.
I just hate to park on the street. Not paying those stupid tickets. Just gonna wait them out. Worked in Jefferson Parish.

Has nothing to do with being "lazy," but I wouldn't have known about Nocca towing on weekends if it weren't for this board. I rarely go in the Bywater-Marigny and I'm sure there's other posters who want to know the parking situation too to plan ahead of time for any restaurant in the city. For instance, free parking is easy to find on Freret and Oak and Maple St's...but if you're going to a restaurant in the CBD or Quarter you'll more than likely have to pay to park.

Yeah, people definitely don't drive around a mall parking lot in circles for 15 minutes trying to find the closest spot to the Food Court.

Well of course. I'm not arguing for keeping said information off the board.

only time this would really be an issue is on a Saturday before 6p. parking is free on Sundays, and I don't know a whole lot of people with free time enough to drive to the quarter and park and have lunch on a random Tuesday.

Nocca towing on weekends
So they just tow cars parked on the street ? Sorry if this was already discussed.
Posted on 6/20/14 at 11:39 am to TigerWise
They have a lot and tow if you park there even on weekends.
Posted on 6/20/14 at 11:49 am to ladytiger118
So parking in a business' lot that you are not doing business with gets you towed? Crazy

Why are y'all making my thread so complicated now?
