For those in the know (or heck, for anyone who has an opinion):

How would the top World Cup teams (say the top 4 or so) do against the top teams in the big leagues - say EPL, La Liga or Bundesliga? (I understand the overlap would make this unrealistic IRL but play along for the sake of the hypothet).

I'm assuming the top league teams - say Bayern, Man City, Barcelona and the like would have the upper hand. But where would the WC teams fit? Bottom of one of the top leagues? In one of the 2nd tier Euro leagues? Somewhere else?

Club teams are better than international teams at the highest level.

Real Madrid and other top club teams would be the World Cup favorites.

Depends on which team.

Club will always be better simply because they can buy a player for a certain position an you don't always have a natural born player or someone who is naturalized who is good enough to play a position.

Most Champions League knockout level teams would beat down international teams. Much stronger and deeper and when there is a hole in your team you can just buy a player but you're stuck with what you've got for international.

However I think if a top international team e.g. Germany now, Spain for the last 6 years, were able to train and play together for a long period of time they would beat a top club side.

E.g. Spain was basically la liga all XI minus Messi.

Romero is no Pato, that's for sure. He played well against BIH, though.

The top club teams are better for the reasons listed above. The Spain teams of the last few tournaments could have given them a good fight though.

And club teams can always employ more sophisticated tactics because the players are together for longer periods of time, train together more often, play more games, etc.

For the World Cup, the players get a few weeks at camp, a few send-off games, then the tournament, and that's it.
