Bale, Falcao and Ribery are probably the top 3.
Zlatan would top these 3 imo. Forgot about him.

Not the best but Walcott is a good player, would have made a huge difference for England for sure.

I've got a post of Zlatan quotes somewhere. I'll try to find it...

Zlatan about how time stopped as he stood waiting on the side line to come in against Argentina in the World Cup. (Aftonbladet, July, 2002)
- You could have punched me in the face, I wouldn't have noticed.
How many one night stands have you had in total? (VR, June, 2002)
- I don't do that stuff. For me it is romance and love...right?
About if his new haircut in the World Cup was inspired by Magnus Hedman. (Aftonbladet, May 2002):
"No, I just went in and cut my hair and this is what I looked like when I came out."

Answer to criticism from John Carew that Zlatan's moves are pointless. (VG, April 2002):

"An injury."
About being able to walk in to a car outlet and be able to buy any car you want (from "Blådårar 2") (2002):
"You'll have to get used to it."
On his move on Stephane Henchoz of Liverpool (there has been some doubts whether his move was on Henchoz or Hyypiä):

"Have you got any more idols (apart from Ali)?" (2001):
"Maradona, on the pitch."
On the question whether he would dribble defender Chivu, one of his teammates:

"My time will come."
"Who is the most beautiful girl in the world?" (2001):
"I haven't met her yet, but when I do, I will date her."
About the relation to Ajax coach Co Adriaanse:
"I often think back to the feeling I had when I just started over here. I was a tiger, ready to face the world. Adriaanse gave me the feeling I am player you use for only ten minutes. I am full of ambition to become that tiger again."
About Hasse Borg of Malmö FF:
"Hasse keeps telling me I wouldn't have made it if I hadn't met him. But he always brags. I would have made tunnels on him all the time." (laugh)

Ibrahimovic and Bale are the two best who were on teams that didn't qualify.
Ribery, Reus, and Falcao were injured and missed out. I know I am missing a few others. There were a ton of guys injured this time although some are trying to play in Brazil.
When it comes to guys on teams who weren't chosen by managers, I'd say the biggest names were Nasri, Tevez, and Donovan.
