And they can't accept that Jonathan Lucroy is the best C in the L

The Brewers recently released a video telling fans to go vote for Lucroy for the All Star game. In the video, they clearly joke by saying "do you really want another Cardinal in the all-star game?"

"I think you have to take it in the nature in which it was meant and it was meant to be geared toward their fan base," Matheny said. "It was just amazing that it was that much directed at our organization. I think that part probably caught me off-guard the most.
"Not saying that's surprising. We've gone through this the last few years, especially last year with the Cardinal Way stuff getting blown way out of proportion. I think it can put a bad taste in a lot of peoples' mouth. But in defense of the recognition that our guys have had -- whether it's having a number of guys on the All-Star team -- that stuff isn't just handed out. These guys have worked hard for that. They have deserved it, and they have earned it, and I don't think that's anything for us to apologize for."

@Brewers really think @JLucroy20 is better than yadi? Lucroy is a joke and a pathetic campaign on your part to get votes for a terrible team

@JLucroy20 you showed no class lashing out at Molina. Do you know what sportsmanship is? Learn it!

Also, this:

Jonathan Lucroy leads all @MLB catchers in runs, hits, total bases, extra-base hits, batting, on-base percentage and slugging.

Most self righteous fans in baseball. Maybe Lucroy just needs a few homosexual neck tats to fit in with Cards fans.
Posted on 6/19/14 at 10:32 am to hendersonshands
They think they are gods gift to not just baseball fans but sports in general.

I mean come on, the ad is clearly a joke and if anything, it's flattering to the St. Louis Cardinals.

What a bunch of pussies
Posted on 6/19/14 at 10:39 am to hendersonshands
I always thought if you could get Cardinal fan and LSU baseball fan in same room the world would explode for the amount of self righteousness that would build up

After the 1,000th time you say best fans in baseball, do you just immediately have a stroke? Might need to get a doctor in that room.

i didnt see anything wrong with what matheny said. are those other tweets just from random arse fans?

I don't have an issue with Matheny's comments. He actually pokes fun a little at the whole "Cardinal Way" BS getting blown out of proportion, which it did.
And he's right, it was a pot shot at the Cardinals organization is some ways. In others, it was a recognition of the Cardinals organization having players who are good enough and popular enough to make the All-Star team. But Matheny recognized that Cardinal popularity and the apparent haughtiness of some of the fans and the media hype "puts a bad taste in a lot of peoples' mouths."
So he is right. His comments were justified as the Brewers could have easily pointed to the Dodgers or the Yankees or the Red Sox, but instead pointed to the Cardinals, a team within the Brewers' division and with whom there is no love lost, to rile up their fans and get them voting. Again, even if it was just in fun, it was clearly a pot shot at the Cardinals and Yadi, and when asked about it, Matheny responded appropriately.
The tweets of some of these fans are kind of ridiculous, but fans of every fanbase are blinded by their loyalty usually. You might even say they are... Fanatical...
The thing that I find most rewarding as a Cardinals fan is that people like you have such a hard on for hating them. Notice how no one hates the Cubs? Or the Astros? Or the Pirates? Decades of bottom feeding make you irrelevant. You become the lovable losers if you're lucky.
All the hate from other fanbases shows is that the Cardinals have been extremely successful over the past decades. People hate success for some reason, particularly sustained success. That's why I hated the Yankees back in the late 90s and early 2000s. Don't really care much about them now. Now I hate the Red Sox more. Kind of human nature. Particularly when your team is playing those other teams for championships and not sitting at below .500 watching October and November on TV.

i mean if we're posting random fan tweets to make a point the internet would explode. do you really think there isnt random milwaukee guy who is just as retarded on a constant basis on twitter?
Posted on 6/19/14 at 10:47 am to bbap
Matheny overanalyzed it and tried to make it more than what it was supposed to be which is just a division rival taking a good natured shot at a team that always has a bunch of guys on the All Star team, all the while promoting one of their players.
A simple "I'd vote for Yadi" would have been fine.

Nah, people hate Cardinals fans for much more than just their team winning.

Precisely. So many on this board have a distinct and terrible hatred for all things Cardinals and it is pretty amusing. Rationality does not come into play.

And just like Matheny, you read way too much into that ad
