In other words, we will look into it once the IRS produces emails, Andy

I am sure he could have found information on gun control debates on million of other sites that are not the National Rifle Association main page.
I really don't see how any access to political or religious sites at school is THAT important.

Well I would think the NRA site is a good place to start on research for a gun debate. I don't really find its site being blocked by a school alarming though, given the school is in the same state as Newtown. The other sites being blocked is weird though.

Of course not. We need to keep these bad ideas out of the minds of our chuuuldren.

If it's not that important, then have it cut both ways by blocking the lefty sites along with the righty ones.
The lack of even a fig-leaf of "We blocked both sides of the aisle" is what makes the whole thing so insulting.

No not really,
I just figure had the student continued to research his topic he would have found plenty of information he needed to complete his assignment, now it seems he has abandoned that to uncover some public school internet conspiracy.
That school probably is blocking those sites on purpose, but I don't see the blocking of those sites being that important to a kid in high school.

Censorship, to a lefty, is only a problem when it blocks something they want to say.
When someone says something that contradicts them, that other person's speech becomes censorship and, thus, has to be stopped.

I am not going to say it shouldn't, but if there wasn't one, I don't think it should be a problem.
EDIT: Wait are we talking about the public library or a public High School library?

“I immediately found out that the State Democrat website was unblocked but the State GOP website was blocked,” Lampart said
If true, that is extremely F'd up.

Lampart even tried to explore websites like Christianity.com and the Vatican’s site but they were both blocked.
This too. Really, the Vatican's website?
quote:
He discovered that “right-to-life” groups were blocked by the firewall but that Planned Parenthood and Pro-Choice America weren’t.
I would like to know which "right-to-life" groups he tried to access, but still f'd up.

The little guy is going to be even more upset when he gets a job and discovers corporate web filtering. Keep fighting the good fight though, man.

Schools are just a taaaaaaad different than workplaces there, buddy.

Stop being a dumbass. It's about the fact that they are blocking sites with political aims (gun issues, abortion issues, religious issues, etc.) from one side of the debate while allowing political sites dealing with the same issues on the other side.
Your gripe is a strawman.

Title of OP, as well as content, reflects this was a public school library.
