Its obvious that Baton Rouge lacking a BBQ scene? I think Hogs for the Cause has tremendously helped push the New Orleans BBQ scene but what about Baton Rouge - is it all chain-esque BBQ joints? Places like TJ Ribs, Sonnys, Podnuhs, Jays, VooDoo, CouYons...

Is Smokin Aces the only joint there is? Any other hidden gems?

Pretty much. There's also a food truck that's pretty decent, but that's about it.

agreed, they're a legit selection

I also find the BBQ at Bergeron's in Port Allen to be awesome. His smoked meats with that dry rub are simply immaculate.

I get the AYCE dry run ribs at Sonny's. Decent ribs, 2 TX toasts, and 2 sides for $13.99 -- can't beat it.

Bergerons is awesome. Going to try Day's this weekend. Best brisket I've had is at firehouse.

I love the smoked wings. I say that all the time because I do love them. Love them.

Other than Smokin' Aces, David's Tiger Express in Central is the only really good BBQ I've had in town. They do it on weekends. Going to have to try Bergeron's because everything else they do is great.

I take the bridge over there regularly to get wings, tasso, bacon stuffed chicken patties, and pistolettes.

What about that place in the town of Livingston? I ate there a couple of years ago and I found that it was really good.

Wayne's in Livingston is legit.

Don't waste your time at Hi Ho. No comparison.

If you've never had the brisket from Firehouse, do yourself a favor and try it.

Doesn't Hi-Ho only sell sandwiches? I ate at a Hi-Ho in Hammond years ago and I just remember that place just having a chopped beef or pork on a burger bun. Have they increased their menu offerings. From what I remember, the food was acceptable but not outstanding. I really enjoyed the food at Waynes.

BR BBQ is awful at best. The pork that is smoked/roasted at City Pork is pretty solid. They also serve up a nice brisket over red beans which is an interesting spin on that dish.
