Anyone know the best place to get 14 yards of limestone?
Also, does the dump truck just drop and go? Spread it out?
If they dont spread it out, do I need a bobcat or can it be done by hand?
Thanks guys!

Are you a dealer? or just happen to have that much laying around? I'm all ears. I don't wanna destroy my truck trying to haul all that and scrape it out.

Hell if I know. I need it to line the alley way / service road behind my commercial kitchen. The contractor dug up the entire road, and I want to add a nice thick layer of good grey rock to what he left me with

cement is practically limestone.

you probably want what gravel LSU has in their parking lots...it's a dark gray limestone.

I would try the nearest rock quarry.

Bear Industries in Port Allen or St Gabriel. They sell it by the ton not the yard and they have different sizes. Call the girl in Port Allen and she will give you a price per ton and different sizes. Tell her what you are doing. She can also give you drivers who will haul for you. If you have a truck you can pick up. If the truck has room he will drag it but you will still have to spread it. 14 yards isn't bad to spread yourself with a shovel and a wheelbarrow.

I would check with the contractor. If they dug it up they should of had stone in the bid for temporary access until they can resurface where they dug up

ETA: you better rent something to do it. 14 tons is a lot to do by hand. The supplier will not spread it. Only deliver.

Job is done, fill dirt and rock is back down. I'm looking for a thick layer of cosmetic and dirt free rock, to keep my back alley from turning into a slosh pit when it rains, and looking fresh.

Call and get a price on #57 limestone. It has less fines if you are looking for cosmetic. It will be loose stone that will not bind. I also suggest you ask for Mexican stone. It is the white version and not the grey. Will be cheaper.

Bear Industries in Port Allen. They are good people and will take care of you. 57 will look a lot better than 610 like Puck said but I would go with gray rock

This. I'm sure as hell not spreading a truck load of rock by hand. Go rent a fricking dingo for a day and be done with it.
