"With the cooperation of the Copeland family, this transaction now brings important intellectual property -- Popeyes' core recipes -- under brand ownership for the first time in our company's history," chief executive Cheryl Bachelder said. "Popeyes now owns its recipes in perpetuity for use worldwide and has clarity of supply and pricing terms through the balance of the supply agreement. We thank the Copeland family for reuniting these treasured recipes with the brand Al Copeland Sr. created."

I've always wondered what the arrangement was before. I guess Popeyes and Copeland had a licensing agreement to use his recipes after he was forced out of the company?

Popeyes was paying annual royalties of $3.1 million to Diversified Foods and Seasonings LLC, a company owned by Copeland's estate, for the recipes

He didn't own the Popeyes anymore...but they HAD to buy all there food from his company diversified. A friend worked there years ago...if a Popeyes was behind on payments...they could cut them off...and essentially shite them down with out food to sell. Quite a deal for Al! They would also sell off good at the end of the year to employees for real cheep. We would buy the red beans no rice in 5lb bags in a 35lb case for about 10 bucks.

A guy I know got fired and sued for doing that. Huge NO-NO selling the bagged Red Beans. I used to buy it too.
I liked how the bags we used at Copeland's for the Red Beans said "Popeyes" on it.
One in the same and still is. I used to buy the seasoning packs too.
I had photocopies of all the recipes at one point but they got lost.
--The Copeland's recipes not the Popeyes ones. I guess that was confusing.

Didn't know it was a no no. I thought it was stuff that was too old to sell to the stores. We bought a ton of it and other things too lol.

They must be hard up. Figured it would go for more.

I still think Popeyes is the best franchise/restaurant that the Copeland's owned. And I'm not surprised that Cheesecake Bistro has shut down...the food was incredibly outdated and everything was drenched in heavy sauces.

Ehh. They also extended their contract with Diversified to continue to purchase their seasonings/supplies.
I might be concerned if I worked for Diversified once that contract ends.

I worked at CNO #9 and CCB #3. On the prep shelf they had books with all the COPELNAD"S recipes, not popeyes. Sorry for confusion. But I can make the old style drop biscuits like they used to make. You add butter in four times.
When I was being trained at Copeland's I had copies of the dishes recipes. What was in the sauce, what was the proportions. I never had the seasoning blends or chub bagged stuff. But the vast majority of the food was all made in house from scratch and for that you need.....recipes. To train people they need.....copies of the recipes.
I had to sign them out, but yeah. Can't see what is so hard to believe about that.
You think a cook can cook food without a recipe?
And lulz over fricking lulz to see Heady "pool in the arena and I'm not Solja or TulaneLSU" Brosevelt tell anyone anything for shoveling.
before I even responded I knew Lester would appear. Dude lives such a shite life he can't beileve that anyone else does anything besides sit on a computer, eat and watch sports.

Do you remember what exactly was in the sauce that came with the broccoli balls? I always loved those and the sauce. I rarely ordered a meal at Copeland's. Just broc balls and warm crab claws.
