Like maybe win by more than one goal next time? I agree.

I'll post it here too:

I'll be sure to call Klinsmann and let him know.

Shut the frick up. We just won our opening match, putting us in a great spot to advance. Eat a dick.

OP does have a point

Dictating a World Cup match in the group stage only results in 3 less points than the team they lost to

We still got three points against a good squad who is sitting with zero points. They couldn't finish, we could.

Would you have rather the USA dictate the match and lose?

There are no style points given to advance.

Yeah, I wanted to complain, and honestly I expected better from us, but I'll gladly take these 3 points and move on.

I started a thread about this, but I'll post this here.

We won 2 matches in the 2002 World Cup. Since that historic run, we've seen the USA play in 8 World Cup matches.

Today was only our 2nd win in that span. Don't take moments like these for granted.

Honestly, this is my sentiments. 3 points are great, but to finish the group stage, they need to be on the attack.

Losing altidore, and depending on what happens with Besler and Dempsey, this could end up being a bit of a Pyrrhic victory. So let's just enjoy this for the next six days. It's only our fifth wc victory in the last 24 years

I thought the US was utterly dominant until Altidore went down. Might have been the most well prepared, ready to play US soccer team I have ever seen.

Lost a lot up front when he went down. He can fly, and has great ball control. That corral he had when he blew he hammy was beautiful, right into a play towards the goal. Elite level.

That Johannson kid brought about three percent of what Altidore brings. I'm not an avid follower of the national team until WC, but I don't think we have much of an answer for losing him. The win was huge, it may even be enough to advance.

It wasn't pretty but people who don't know international soccer see the name "Ghana" and assume they are some shitty Africian team who got in because the play in a crappy federation.

Which couldn't be further from the truth.

Plus, don't discount the mental aspect of our guys playing a team who has knocked us out of the last two world cups. Add in the fact that our opening match in this group was so crucial and you have the perfect storm to result in a team playing tight and nervous.

As awesome as that Dempsey goal was, it changed the complexion of the game. It forced Ghana to attack much earlier and often and that forced the USA into bunkering and defending.

And the loss of Jozy and Johansson's lack of experience added to our lackluster attacking.

Really, when our captain and best player and distributor plays as awful as Bradley did and we still win? That's great news in my book.

We were ahead, we lost Jozy and Besler so we decided to be ALL IN on defense and counter hoping to win, But also hoping to get at minimum a draw and a point.

ESPN just reported that WE had 45 clearances, the most by any team since the 1966 World Cup.

WOOooooo DEFENSE WINS
