Tittle says it all. Wondering what the TD foodies have to say about the subject.

Clyopies on W. Belfort just past Fondren in southwest Houston has more like NOLA poboys. Otherwise lots of bad bread poboys in Houston.

I live in the West Loop. I've seen places saying that they have Po-Boys, but have just assumed they probably suck.

FWIW I'm 23 and just moved here a month ago. Need some guidance from the elders on F&D board.

What else is good at Rajin' Cajun? Also how is that LA bar right next to it?

Cajun Stop in east downtown. Little hole in the wall place, but the best I have found. Falls short of the better Louisiana spots, but po boys aren't a Houston staple.

ETA - I'm not a Ragin Cajun Fan. Their seafood po-boys come dressed with ketchup and they give you the option to add cheese to your seafood po-boy.

I know Po-Boys aren't a staple here, but I just gotta find a decent one here until I come back to LA. Thanks for the advice on Rajin' Cajun, if it comes dressed with ketchup, I do not want.

The owner of the Cajun Stop was raised in Houma and came to Texas after being displaced by Katrina.

It's not a PO-boy place per se but Jimmy G's in Greenspoint makes a shrimp po-boy that rivals anything in NOLA. I work nearby, it's a huge, pricey sandwich but it gets the job done every time I end my po-boy fix...

Cajun Stop

I like the grilled flounder poboy at Goode Company...it's no where near being traditional, but I don't give a shite, it's good.

I like your John Smith pic. The best without a doubt are at cajun stop formally calliopes

she is a vietnamese gal from Houma and LSU grad. Great place in East Downtown.

Cajun Stop is where it's at. I'm there for lunch every Friday during lent. Their shrimp po-boy and some jalepeno hush puppies hit the spot.

I will say that when Lisa's not there, service can get spotty...and by spotty, I mean terrible.

I've had their raw oysters and beer. Good oysters. Co-worker had a poboy for lunch from there and complained that it was mostly huge bread, much like Papadeaux's.

I like the owner and his family. Good, big, cold raw oysters. Like the seasoning on the batter for the shrimp and catfish. Good seafood gumbo.

However, ordered a fried oyster and catfish poboy for lunch a few weeks ago and was underwhelmed.

Also had a contact from D.C. once share some boiled crawfish he ordered when we were there. Disappointed in the seasoning. However, owner apparently gets his crawfish from the Mowata area, so if true, at least you know the bugs themselves are of decent quality.

Same, i'll go for happy hour and get oysters and beer but that's about it. LA Bar next door has some decent seafood though.
