Upgrading to a king mattress and decided its time to buy a new bedroom set. Casually looked at Rooms To Go but their stuff seemed a bit cheap.

Would prefer all wood, but would settle for mostly wood as long as it is built well (no Ikea). Not opposed to shopping online.

Thanks for your help.

Haverty's has nice quality and will make a deal with you.

Of course if your the OT baller, you have an interior decorator go down to New Orleans and buy the stuff for you...

I built my own bed, but got the rest of the pieces to make the bedroom set at these two places. Some cool stuff that is real wood and not mass produced.

I just bought mine at Ashley Furniture in Gonzales. We shopped around a good bit but I thought Ashley had the best price/quality.

Also try Gallery Furniture, I know a few folks who have gotten things from Gallery.

Also, The Dump is worth looking at, occasionally a good deal on something nice.

Check out Wood Haven on Government. All their furniture is hand built, and very decently price.

Bassett, Town and Country, Olindes....

Ashley is the absolute worst...we got their top of the line leather living room furniture. They delivered and it was defective...I said take it back. I don't want it. $400.00 restocking fee and damn rude customer service. So, my son had leather furniture during college. Total crap! Read reviews online. Many stories similar to mine.

When they push that furniture protection plan on you, just remember it either cost them $25(piece under $750) or $50(over) for it, even though they sell it for quite a bit more

Are most locally owned furniture places negotiable on prices?

Most furniture has a 2.5x's+ mark up, employees usually work on commission, they want to sell more than you want to buy. It doesnt hurt to try to negotiate

FWIW, I bought my bedroom furniture from Christian Street Furniture (the Corporate Blvd. location). Solid, well-built stuff (no particle board).
