I was told that MS is generally considered more rigorous and that while an MS typically requires a thesis, an MA curriculum never requires one. I'm by no means an expert on the matter.

I'm starting a masters program in essentially the same exact function. One is a categorized as a M.S and the other M.A. I'm a bit confused as which is seen as more valuable.

So what you're telling us is that you're about to rack up a bunch of debt for really no reason at all.

You should get it in psychology. That way when you've racked up $70K in loans, you can at least kinda self analyze yourself.

No. I would say the difference is like 80K vs. 110K a year. The entire program is like $25K. I'd say the return is worth it.

I don't know if this applies to the field you're pursing, but in mine, the MA is considered more of the academic-track degree that serves as a stepping stone to getting your Ph.D while the MS is more of a terminal degree.

The difference is basically the college granting the degree, i.e., College of Liberal Arts or College of Sciences within the university. The two colleges may have different entrance, elective and graduation requirements, including the requirement for a thesis.

When it comes down to it, your experience combined with your degree is what matters. If you have legit experience with a MA, I don't think it really makes a difference vs an MS. As long as the program you choose is accredited.
