I have my own Modem - Motorola SB6121.
Need Simple Step-By-Step procedure for a "Techno-Dummy".

I will not have Phone access once I disable the old Modem. It runs through my Computer.

Good luck then..As far as I know, they have to have some information off the new modem in order to attach it to your service...MAYBE call them ahead of the switch and see what they recommend...

-Hook up the coax cable into your new modem
-Run the ethernet cable from your new modem to your PC
-Plug new modem's power chord into an outlet
-Call Cox and give them the serial # on the new modem
-Enjoy your internet

It is going to get slightly more complicated than that if you want Wifi, but not much.

The directions are usually in the installation kit. That's what I use.
