You can hear the screams of the little girl in the background. The pit bulls ripped out her tongue, so she will never be able to speak again.

I wish the camera angle was different so I could see the beast get sent to hell with a stray of bullets.

Story here

Props to the cops. Should of shot the owner, too.

These dog attacks are not the dog's fault though. Pits have powerful jaws and very aggressive tendencies. Add in a horrible owner that has no business owning a dog like that and you have the recipe for these attacks.

I've seen many dog bites at work. Many of them from pit bulls. I'm def not a fan of the dogs...but I can't blame an animal....for acting like an animal.

So basically, trash gonna trash. No surprises as to how the dog was raised...(or not raised)

Do they say what provoked the attack?

Many times when it's a small child bitten...it's because the child picked up the dog's toy or got too close to the dog's food...making the dog think the child was a threat/invading their territory.

I'm certainly not blaming the child, just wondering if there was a trigger that prompted the dog to attack.

These dogs aren't going anywhere. If their owners could be more responsible owners and parents more watchful of their children around these dogs(including teaching their children how to be around dogs) we would see less of these incidents.

so you get a bunch of Labrador bites too?..with maybe cocker spaniel, poodle, and border collie maulings mixed in?

or is it that "bad people" don't buy certain dogs?

I'm sure the ER gets dog bites from several different types of breeds of dogs.

However...the ones that actually need to be admitted, that require plastic surgery....are typically the pit bull bites. Again...because of the strength of the jaws. I don't work in the ER so I couldn't tell you what kind of bites exactly they see. I just see the ones that end up admitted to the pediatric floor for antibiotics and a plastic surgery consult.

That's the issue. A poodle is capable of biting a child...it's just that the child isn't gonna be disfigured because of it.

And we've had cases where the pit was the family dog and had been around the child a lot. The family didn't raise the dog to be agressive and the dog had no history of it. Again..the child may have taken it's toy or gotten too close to it's food and the dog, sensing a threat to it's territory, attacked.

Btw....just a few years ago a chow mix actually killed it's owners baby in Mesa, AZ.

Both parents were actually cops. Left the baby in the carseat on the floor at home(iirc) unattended for just a few minutes. Came out to find the dog chomping down on the baby's head.

ETA: Here is the article

It was a bassinette. Baby only 2 weeks old.

It doesn't shock me that dogs bite. Hell...pugs have the capacity to bite.

Dogs are still animals. No matter how much we love them and train them...they are still animals that have the ability to act unpredictable.

A breed of dog that does that without being abused doesn't need to be around people. The breed is fricked in the head period.

Chows are notoriously aggressive dogs also.

Yes they are. Mean dogs.

That said...those parents should have known better to NEVER leave a newborn unattended with a dog. That dog isn't even used to the baby yet.

You have to carefully watch your dog(of any breed) when you bring a new baby in the home. Some dogs have no issues. Other may see the baby as a threat and get aggressive. I've had friends have to give their dog away because they didn't trust the dog's actions towards the baby and didn't want something to happen in the future. One example the dog was a bulldog that was usually very sweet. Got jealous of the baby and would physically try to nudge the baby out of the mother's arms when she was holding him(this was if she was on the couch and dog was also on the couch).

Butters loves children, but you better believe when I have a baby I will be watching him like a hawk around the baby.

Our kids are big so no issues with that but we have had puppies come to visit and when my kids would show them attention Sherman wouldn't growl or bark or show his teeth (he never ever does any of that) but he would quietly put his head into the other dogs butt and push him across the hardwood and then sit down in the exact spot the puppy was. It was comical being that it was another dog.
