Don't know about my great-grandmothers, but the stone from my paternal grandmother's engagement ring is now the center stone for my wife's ring.

Dad has 10 siblings and he is the 3rd oldest. Scruffy has no idea who has this ring, why he should care, or even who his great grandmother is.

Traditionally, the oldest granddaughter gets the grandmother's wedding/engagement ring.

Great grandmother's ring? No idea, but I have both of my grandmother's rings which are nice sized diamonds and set in platinum.

No grandaughters in my family.

Reared in relative poverty, there were no jewels of value. I think they went in the grave.

Probably was too poor to have a ring

Probably this for my family, too, at least on my mom's side. Bunch of poor farmers from rural Louisiana. I never met any of my great grandparents

It is on my wife's left hand... And no one knows that except my mother and me (and my wife ). The rest of my family would lose their collective minds if they knew that I got it.

She was a poor illiterate immigrant. Her ring was probably made of sulfur or something. Who knows?
