Saw the signs up for a new BBQ place opening on O'Neal, not far from George O'Neal, called Low and Slow BBQ...

New construction or existing building?

Existing building, in that little shopping plaza next to the car wash... I think it was previously a Latino club

It seem many businesses come and go out of this location.

They do do market research, but people see what they want to see in the market research. For people starting a restaurant, their "great" idea trumps market research.

Well given Baton Rouge is lacking good restaurants considering its size, if it's good it'll probably make it.

The answer to whether or not the restaurant will make it is also the answer to this simple question:

Is it a chain restaurant?

There's your answer.

Latino club back in 2002-2005ish. Lots of lowriders and fast/furious tricked out Honda civics. So def Latino. That strip mall never really took off. I remember it getting a face lift once or twice but never resulting in success.

It's O'Neal Lane, not Gardere. But that location's never caught on in the past even when it was Court of 2 Sisters which wasn't bad.

Yeah, that area is ugly. And places have a tough time in that location, not only because of the shitty area, but because I don't think you can sell alcohol that close to a church.

When was there ever a Court of Two Sisters on O'Neal?

You guys might be confusing this plaza with another one. The one I'm referring to is relatively new, less than 5 years old I believe. It's located between George O'Neal and Harrell's Ferry.

Can't recite you the exact year but sometime in the last 10 to 12 years because I ate their once with my wife and we talked to the two owners (a pair of sisters) and enjoyed their company but it didn't make it very long.

No way was it Court of Two Sisters. They have never had a location in BR. It might have been "Two Sisters Kitchen" or some shite like that (?) I've lived here since 89 and I have no recollection of that.

If memory serves it was called Two Sisters Courtyard. I think it was the first business that occupied that corner of the strip mall when it was constructed back in the day. That had to be over fifteen years ago, though.

Not sure if that's the strip mall OP is referring to or not.
