Got pulled over for speeding by state trooper in Missouri. Didn't try to make excuses cause I was doing 81 in a 70. I have big LSU sticker on my truck window. Trooper let me geaux cause he is lsu fan. Made my day! He asked me to slow down and I did. Happy Father's Day.

FWIW, I have driven many miles around the country. As I got speeding tickets, I would talk to the cops to see why they stopped me. Most of them said they set their radar at 10 or 11 mph over the speed limit.

I started setting the cruise at 9 mph over the speed limit and I have not gotten a speeding ticket in the last 20 years.

I had a police officer tell me the same thing 20 years ago. He said anything from 10-plus mph over the limit, and you're on your own. Below that, and you shouldn't have a problem.

Yeah, same here, I usually go about 9 over without a problem. Of course there's things like weather and other traffic to think about, but it's a good rule of thumb.

I usually go 7 mph over the speed limit. No tickets in past 20 years but I am upping it to 8.5 mph over speed limit now. (Only on the freeway if min speed limit is 65 or higher.

Bigger fish to be had on the interstate than 11 mph over speed limit.
Surprised he stopped you.

I also avoid packs of cars. If a vehicle ahead of you has a malfunction, every vehicle behind it is at risk of wrecking with very little room to maneuver.
