Do you check check all of their accounts? What do you look for in them? What are some positive and negative things that stand out?

Do y'all actually have and use ways to look at deleted posts?

I'd also be interested in hearing answers to those questions.

In addition, what if you are unable to find a Facebook, LinkedIn, etc. for the person? Does that bother you?

We have a potential employee coming in for an interview next week through a head hunter. This is a department head position with a 6 figure salary.

The first thing a few of us did after deciding to bring this guy in was check FB, Instagram, Twitter, and linkedin. I will be one of the ones interviewing him and found it extremely advantageous to know more about him outside of the resume.

Where you able to locate the person's social media? If so, did he/she have it locked up or were you able to find out some information?

What if they can't find it (person doesn't have Facebook/deactivated it)?

I was on a plane ride this week with an HR Director of a Company in Louisiana who also does recruiting. He says that's the first place he goes to is Facebook to see how that person is putting his business out there. He also says he passed on candidates with impressive Linkedin profiles but were knuckleheads on Facebook.

He didn't tell me anything about that.

I don't have a FB, I'm guessing it can't hurt. Do have LI

But what exactly stands out when you look at Facebook? Are drinking/partying pics (not too outrageous) frowned upon or accepted?

I would assume radical political stuff is a red flag.

When I was getting interviewed they told me they couldn't find my social media. Told them that not everybody has linkedin, twitter, Facebook or any other form of social media

Don't forget to check his TD post history while you're at it.

I guess it ultimately depends on what position/ company the prospective job is for. The position we are offering is one that demands an energetic person with a Type A personality with an emphasis on integrity.

Resumes are so misleading these days. We had one candidate submit a letter of recommendation from his previous employer a few months back. Long story short, said letter was created by him and forged the President of previous employer's signature.

Maybe one qualification should be to table your tigerdroppings screen name at the onset of an interview.

They asked why and I told them I had a phone and if I wanted to know how someone was doing I'd call them or they'd call me. That was the end of that conversation.

Did you get the gig?

Just me, but I wouldn't offer you a job with that type of response. Not that it is wrong, but it sends a combative/ rebel/ my shite don't stink vibe in today's world. I almost depsise to answer my phone and don't want to bother others on the phone unless absolutely necessary. Maybe I am the odd one, but the response would bother me in that setting.
