PFF - QB's in Focus - Playaction Pass

Passer Rating of 107.4 with PA vs. an 83

quote:

• Drew Brees led the league with 176 play action dropbacks, but his usage on 25.2% of his dropbacks only ranked 12th. Russell Wilson had the highest percentage of play action dropbacks with 34.1%. A league-high 40% of Wilson’s play actions were designed rollouts

Yeah I'm not really surprised by this. I think we run the PA too much at times. It starts to get predictable.

In other words Russell Wilson still can't really stand in the pocket and read the D, and with no big play rb threat, play action doesn't do us a whole lot of good.

Well we ran more play action than any other team in the league

and we had success with it

And Seattle had the best running game so it's understandable that Wilson had the best percentile

I did notice that Drew's qbr went up but very marginally compared to alot of the quarterbacks on here. Some are around 30 qbr points higher and Drew's is relatively the same

Lack of a true rushing threat makes it pointless for teams to sellout on the run. It might hold the backers or safeties for a moment but rarely do they commit.

Also means Brees' doesn't need play action to be very effective.

TB you have the league no play action average confused with Brees' no play action average.

Not looking at the chart and totally going off my instincts, I'm going to say we did pretty bad with play action.

Ingram has to go.

We actually did pretty well with it. Just think if we had a legit threat how scary we'd be.

Not looking at the chart or anything, I'd say you're wrong.

I've been drawing up this play where we fake the handoff to Robinson (I call it a handoff fakeroo), and then Cooks is screaming down the sideline (like literally screaming "Less filling!" settling the old debate), but that's just a diversion, because Josh Hill is taking the reverse handoff.

This is a 4th down play.

That's stupid. We should do that in the bottom of the 8th and it should be Stills screaming because we all know why.

I thought Paddy would give it to Cadet on 4th down?

He could scream "taste great don't it Paddy"!

I'm not drawing up anything for Cadet right now, because I don't know if he's going to be here. :\
